Why Brand Matters in Workplace Design
3rd February, 2025
Branding isn't just about logos and colours—it’s about identity. The strongest brands speak for themselves, shaping perceptions and driving loyalty. But branding isn’t just external; it starts from within.
A company’s brand reflects its values, culture, and credibility. It builds trust, influences decisions, and can even enhance business value. Customers, employees, and investors connect with brands that feel authentic, making it more important than ever to create a workplace that embodies your identity.
Bringing Brand to Life in the Workplace
A well-designed office does more than look good—it reinforces company culture, inspires employees, and strengthens brand identity. While colours and logos play a part, the real impact comes from the overall experience. An office should reflect not just what a company does, but what it stands for. Thoughtful design creates a sense of belonging and purpose, turning employees into brand advocates and shaping how visitors perceive the business.
At Maris, we integrate brand DNA into every aspect of workplace design, ensuring that each space tells a story. Here are some recent examples:
Cassava Technologies – Past Meets Present
When Pan-African tech leader Cassava Technologies brought multiple subsidiaries under one roof, they wanted their new London HQ to reflect both their heritage and future. We took inspiration from their star-shaped logo, incorporating its yin-yang structure into dynamic architectural angles. Feature walls told the company’s story, while carefully selected artwork—either by African artists or depicting African themes—reinforced their roots.
Investindustrial – Seamless Style Meets Family Values
This private equity firm is known for precision, and their office design had to reflect that. We created a seamless space with resin floors and glass walls, interrupted only by biophilic details and carefully chosen brand elements—like a Ducati motorbike in reception, symbolising their investment in the brand. Their Italian family values were also reflected in a beautifully designed staff kitchen, where teams can dine together. Even small details, like four different coffee machines catering to individual preferences, showcased their commitment to employee experience.
Select Equity – Conveying Company Values Through Design
When Select Equity moved into a new Fitzrovia office, they wanted a space that felt both modern and timeless, with a blend of their global brand identity and a distinct London feel. We incorporated warm walnut woodwork, inspired by their American roots, and subtle red accents that harmonised with the overall design. A nod to their New York heritage came in the form of subway-style white tiles, adding character while maintaining a professional, understated aesthetic.
