An office redesign for Banco do Brasil

29th July, 2024

In partnership with Banco do Brasil, we designed and built a workspace that prioritised people and culture, and community.

The challenge

Transform the workspace into a people-centric hub, emphasising community, culture and strategic positioning in the financial landscape.

The solution

Biophilic design, connectivity-focused layout, and vibrant culture showcase the bank’s commitment to wellbeing and positive work environments.

The result

Enhanced connectivity, vibrant culture promoting collaboration across departments and creating a welcoming setting for employees and clients.

As Banco do Brasil transitioned to a new workspace at 280 Bishopsgate, the focus was on creating an environment that placed people and culture at the forefront. Seeking to establish a people-centric hub, the goal was to emphasise socialisation, community, and cultural integration while also reflecting the bank’s brand and prominence.

Capitalising on the impressive views offered by their new location, the design aimed to utilise these features to place individuals at the heart of the workspace, creating an impressive and welcoming setting for both employees and clients alike while also giving a nod to the Brazilian culture.

A strategic move

The selection of 280 Bishopsgate as Banco do Brasil’s new location was a strategic move that uniquely supported their vision of establishing a people-centric hub.

Positioned amidst the bustling financial district, the locale not only offered breathtaking views but also provided access to state-of-the-art facilities surrounding their workspace. This prime location not only reflected the bank’s brand and eminence within the financial sector but also allowed Banco do Brasil to integrate into the vibrant atmosphere of neighbouring banks.

The combination of impressive views and strategic positioning contributed significantly to the creation of a workspace that not only prioritises their people but also underscores Banco do Brasil’s prominence in the heart of the financial landscape.

A people centric workplace experience

Our approach to transforming the workspace was centred on creating a people-centric environment.

Our approach placed a special emphasis on prioritising the wellbeing and experience of the individuals within the office. Incorporating biophilic design elements such as natural wood finishes, maximisation of orientation and natural lighting, planting, and a palette of natural tones, our goal was to create a people-centric space that connects their people with the natural world.

By fostering a harmonious and biophilic atmosphere, the workspace not only reflects Banco do Brasil’s commitment to employee wellbeing but also cultivates a positive and productive environment that directly benefits the business through increased engagement, creativity, and overall satisfaction.

Cultivating connectivity

Following an employee consultation that underscored the importance of culture, we designed a workspace for Banco do Brasil that places a deliberate focus on fostering a vibrant and connected company culture.

Through space planning and wayfinding, the layout encourages collaboration, connection, and synergy across the floor plate. Neighbourhoods tactically placed along a guided journey, marked by intuitive wayfinding, highlight the significance of connectivity between departments.

This not only promotes employee movement, interaction, and idea exchange but also underscores the company’s commitment to cultivating a dynamic culture.

A dedicated space with stunning views over Bishops Square serves as a special destination for daily communal lunches and socialising, accentuating Banco do Brasil’s dedication to prioritising culture and connection within their workspace.

A people-first organisation

The redesign of Banco do Brasil’s office has successfully created a vibrant, people-centric hub that prioritises community and cultural integration. The strategic location, coupled with breathtaking views, reflects the bank’s prominence while establishing a workspace that puts people first.

The incorporation of biophilic design elements enhances the positive and productive environment, aligning with Banco do Brasil’s commitment to employee wellbeing. The deliberate focus on cultivating connectivity and a vibrant company culture through space planning and wayfinding has promoted collaboration and synergy across departments.

This transformation has resulted in an impressive and welcoming setting for both employees and clients, reinforcing the bank’s dedication to culture and connection within their workspace.
