155 Bishopsgate
London, City

The Space

Designed by the Chicago-based architect Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, 155 Bishopsgate owes more than a little to that city’s feted architecture. While New York might be famous for its gilded skyscrapers, the ideas originated in Chicago where brilliant design minds such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe and Renzo Piano have shaped a new aesthetic of grand beauty that has given the city a reputation as an “architectural mecca”.

Step into 155 Bishopsgate and you’re transported into a heroic Chicago wonderland with a vast reception featuring the giant bronze torsos of Jim Dine’s East End Venus, golden escalators and marble floors that conjure up an over-the-top vision of an Eighties bankers’ paradise. It’s a grand legacy that Broadgate is proud to celebrate.
