Work has begun on the new London location for University of Wales Trinity Saint David
We’re now six weeks into the strip-out before we start building the new University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) London campus at One Westferry Circus in Canary Wharf.
Set to be a dynamic learning environment for undergraduate and postgraduate students at their business school, the riverside building will place the education experience at the heart of a global financial district with a reputation for its growing industry diversity.
Behind a striking curved facade, Maris has created a concept that will provide opportunities for collaboration, socialisation, optimum wellbeing, creating the look and feel of an aspirational office space but with the practical functionality of an education environment.
Key to maximising the opportunity is understanding the student need as well as the capabilities and capacity of a building set up for learning. It also recognises the age range that the university will be welcoming across their undergraduate and postgraduate demographic, providing the necessary support for students but respecting them as adults on the cusp of promising careers and looking forward to what their future experiences will be like in workplace.
Central to the design has been optimising teaching space and maximising the experience with new teaching practices in mind.
The project is set for completion by Christmas 2023 with the intention of welcoming the first student intake in January 2024.
