Finishing touches that make all the difference

Having recently completed the Putney offices for leading international tobacco and e-cigarette manufacturer, JTI, the finishing touches have now been put in place so the team can move in and get working in an inspiring new environment.

While the success of a project is in the planning and execution, the finishing touches make all the difference to the end results, presenting it in the way that the designers intended and ultimately enhancing the experience for individuals and the organisation.

The devil’s in the detail

The finishing touches on a project are all about layering details – the plant life, the rugs, the placement of ornaments – these are the things that showcase the space and bring the corporate brand personality to the fore.

At JTI, we worked with interior designer, Michelle Harris from Harris and Home to achieve these final details. For example, the organisation has a lot of memorabilia that speaks to its heritage, which they wanted to include but didn’t want to dominate the aesthetic. These have been featured tastefully on select shelving in the board room while the main, open plan area is cleaner and more minimalist.

Setting the tone

That said, while minimalism was the essence of the design motif, there was also an emphasis on a sense of comfort. The finishing touches were instrumental in achieving that result, adding texture and colour through rugs and scatter cushions to soften the space and give an inviting, residential feel.

JTI’s Japanese heritage is subtly referenced in contemporary artworks as well. Artwork can be an important feature in work and educational environments, and we have dedicated partners that we work with to find the right pieces to suit the corporate brand.

Design Director, Natalie, who worked on the project said: “The finishing touches are so important because they really bring everything together in the end. Clients invest so much in making sure that their spaces are right for them and their teams, these last details are essential to completing on a professional note and setting the tone for the working environment going forward. JTI is the perfect example of that process working at its best.”
