Creating a contemporary space for a leading management consultancy firm.
In the wake of the pandemic, German management consultancy firm, Roland Berger, enlisted the support of the team at Maris to design and build their new London office space as part of an expansion project.
Having secured a larger floor in the building they had occupied on Baker Street for more than a decade, they wanted an environment that encouraged and welcomed team members and clients into the workplace but that also enabled the hybrid working culture.
The design was meticulous, prioritising clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic. Key features included a marble reception desk, contemporary timber cladding with intricate joinery detailing, and intentionally placed plant life to enhance the environment.
The reception flowed seamlessly into the office space, which offered collaborative areas, pods, rooms for video calls and agile spaces delivering flexibility for remote working. With many international clients, key technology capabilities were a priority, and were woven into the fabric of the design. The furniture was also extremely important to the team, with a keen focus on ergonomics that supported wellbeing in the workplace.
The 14-week construction period passed without incident. The challenges were limited to those that had been anticipated – namely remedial works to update a historic air conditioning system and ensure the space met the highest standards for a modern workplace. The result was not only a five-star office, but five-star ratings for Maris from the client as well.
